The Journey to Awesomeness

Today’s inspiration for awesome: “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” Lao Tzu

Allow me to take a little liberty with the wise words of Lao Tzu – “The journey to awesomeness must begin with a single step.” To be awesome, you’ve simply got to start stepping. 

Allow me to offer you for example (a humble example), this blog. I had been planning to jump into blogging for quite some time (and by quite some time I mean about 2-3 years). I could say that planning to blog was the first step, but that’s just false.  After my initial planning came the research: reading other blogs; learning the lingo; pricing hosting; choosing a name; finding a niche; etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. These weren’t first steps either.  Even when I’d bought a hosting plan, registered a domain, installed Word Press and pored over countless themes, I had not taken the first step. I could say that I had packed my bags and laced my shoes, but still no first step.  Even after sitting on said hosting plan, domain, and a number of unpublished posts for over a year – YES! a year – I had not taken a first step.

So here I offer to you my first step: My first published blog.

Now that I’ve taken this first step, where am I going? To awesomeness! (Duh) But the plan is to take you all with me, and to provide a sketchy map for those who choose to follow. (Does that sound cheesy?) I believe that awesomeness is found everywhere. In the world around us – the conversations we have, the songs we sing, the movies we watch, and (most importantly) the people we meet.  So my goal in writing this blog is to share some of these bits of everyday awesomeness in hopes that they will help to reveal- or at least remind you of - your own awesome brilliance. 

In parting, I would be remiss as your awesomeness consultant if I did not offer you some steps to taking your first step (I know how ridiculous that sounds). Ready?
